Alkosel is a source of organic selenium where the selenium is bound in protein form. This form is more readily available and is less likely to be a pro-oxidant. The main function of selenium is to be an antioxidant. Inorganic selenium oftentimes causes oxidation. This oxidation is counter-active for the intentions of selenium usage. |
