Clostridium difficile are bacteria that cause swelling of the colon, which generally results in abdominal cramps, fever and diarrhea. C. difficile commonly appears after administering antibiotics since antibiotics tend to attack both good and bad cells when they enter to the body. Because C. difficile requires a deficiency of good bacteria to survive, supplementing feed with probiotics to help regulate the spread of the bacteria is a proven way to prevent against C. difficile.
