The Home of Immunity

Physiology of the Gut  |   The Home of Immunity  |   The Value of Preventive Care  |

The gastro-intestinal tract works as a filtration device for foreign bacteria and substances entering the body. It is the most densely populated place in the entire world and is the home base for the monogastric immune system.

Immunoglobulins, commonly known as antibodies, are substances created by the body's immune system to respond to bacteria, viruses and other harmful pathogens that invade the body. More immunoglobulins are produced in the intestine than any other tissue. Immunoglobulins attach themselves to foreign substances entering the body, allowing the immune system to recognize the extraneous cells and destroy the invaders.

Keeping a healthy gut begins with preventive care -- taking the proper measures to supplement the gut's ability to fight foreign substances.
