Levucell SB - Mode of action

How it works  |   Yeast Strain  |   Research  |   Micro-Encapsulation  |

The Shield Effect of S.c. boulardii involves a neutralization of Clostridium difficile toxins.

  • Produces a protease which destroys both toxins of C. Difficile
  • Maintains epithelial cell integrity
  • Transforms toxinogenic C. difficile into non-toxinogenic C. difficile clone
  • Increases indirect synthesis of IgA immunoglobulins
  • Produces a vitamin which inhibits synthesis of both toxins of C. difficile

Clostridium Difficile - S. Boulardii performs a "shield effect" to neutralize clostridia toxins through the production of a specific protease which neutralizes clostridia toxins from both difficile and perfringens; stimulates the intestine to produce more Immunoglobulin A as much as 4-fold for clostridia.

E-Coli - E-Coli bacteria "see" the outer shell of the yeast as a potential food source, attach themselves to the yeast and are "flushed" out of the system.

Salmonella - Performs the "Shield effect" to neutralize the bacteria through the production of a specific protease which neutralizes salmonella toxins.

Villi of the jejunum destroyed by toxins of Clostridium difficile.

S. c. boulardii has been shown to increase IAP and help in Detoxifying e-coli mycotoxins.
